Community-Based ABA Therapy
Learning Skills Where Life Really Happens
From the playground to the grocery store, from daycare to summer camp, our community-based ABA therapy helps your child develop real-world skills in the places they'll actually use them.
Life doesn’t happen in therapy rooms. It happens at the park, in grocery store aisles, at birthday parties, during playdates, and at summer camp. That’s why community-based ABA therapy is such a powerful complement to home and school services. It helps your child practice the skills they’re learning in the real world, with real people, in real situations.
At Kokoro Care Network, our community-based ABA therapy meets your child wherever they spend time in Palm Beach County, whether that’s at their daycare, afterschool program, local park, summer camp, or during family outings. Our trained therapists work directly in these natural environments, helping your child navigate social interactions, follow routines, and build independence in the places that matter most.
This isn’t about simulating community experiences in a controlled setting. It’s about being there when your child needs support—teaching them to order food at a restaurant, play cooperatively at the park, participate in group activities at camp, or handle unexpected situations in public spaces. Community-based therapy turns everyday moments into meaningful learning opportunities.

Why Community-Based ABA Therapy?
Skills Transfer to Real Life
One of the biggest challenges in ABA therapy is ensuring that skills learned in one setting transfer to others. A child might follow directions beautifully at home but struggle when those same skills are needed at the playground or in a busy store. Community-based therapy eliminates this gap by teaching skills exactly where they’ll be used, making generalization automatic rather than something to work toward later.
Real-Life Social Opportunities
Community settings provide authentic opportunities for social interaction that can’t be replicated anywhere else. At the park, your child can practice asking to join a game with children they’ve never met. At daycare, they learn to share materials and navigate group dynamics. During community outings, they experience how to interact with cashiers, librarians, and other community members. These real-world social experiences are invaluable for developing meaningful social skills.
Building Independence & Confidence
Every successful community outing builds your child’s confidence and independence. When they successfully order their own meal, navigate a new playground, or participate in a camp activity without constant adult intervention, they gain a sense of capability that fuels further growth. Community-based therapy creates a scaffolded path toward independence, with support that gradually fades as your child becomes more competent.
Community Settings We Support
Afterschool & Aftercare Programs
Afterschool programs present unique challenges, there’s less structure than school, more social demands, and it occurs after a full day of regular school activities when children are often tired. We support children in these settings by helping with homework time and following directions, participating appropriately in recreational activities, and self-regulation during unstructured time, navigating social interactions during free play, and transitioning smoothly between activities and eventually to home.
Daycare & Preschool Programs
Our therapists can provide support at your child’s daycare or preschool, helping them appropriately participate in group activities, follow classroom routines, interact appropriately with peers and teachers, participate in structured and free play, handle transitions throughout the day, and develop school-readiness skills in authentic educational settings.
Summer Camp & Specialty Programs
Summer camp, sports programs, art classes, and other specialty activities offer great opportunities for growth, but they can also be challenging without support. We provide one-on-one assistance to help your child follow multi-step group instructions, participate in team activities and sports, manage the overwhelming sensory demands of new environments, handle being away from parents for extended periods, make friends and maintain positive peer interactions, and succeed in recreational activities that build confidence and joy.
Community Outings, Errands, & Extracurricular Activities
Everyday errands and outings are opportunities for learning life skills. Our therapists can accompany your family to grocery stores to practice staying with adults, making requests, and waiting at checkout. In restaurants to work on ordering food, table manners, and sitting appropriately. In libraries to practice quiet voices, following library rules, and selecting books. In medical or dental appointments to reduce anxiety and practice coping with clinical settings; shopping centers to develop patience, following directions in busy environments, and appropriate public behavior; and community events like farmers markets, festivals, or neighborhood gatherings. We can also provide support in extracurricular activities like swim lessons, martial arts, music class or other activities for your child.
